Somedays you just need a lesson that focuses on you the rider. Lucky for me I got to have one on Sunday.
My friend and coach Sam and I decided to spend a pony day together. We met up at my barn and attended and audited a Hawley Bennett clinic near by. We always find its a good learning experaince to watch other people ride and learn from watching.
Then we decided to drive north to our favorite tack store. I was able to walk out with new reins, a running martingale attachment and neck strap for less than $25.
Then after shopping at the outlet mall for non horsey things, we went back to the barn. That is when the torture began.
First she tied my stirrups to my girth, as I am a little loose with my lower leg. Then she put me on a lunge line and I had to give up all control at the walk and the trot. It was an experiance for sure. I haven’t done that in a long time. Its really amazing to me how little hands B needs to communication.
Definitely walked away from the night with things to ruminate on and incorporate into my riding.
