After I moved out of my parents’ home in 2010, I started missing having the pitter patter of doggy feet. I grew up with dogs and my mom breeds golden retrievers. My sig other worked nights and I was lonely. I posted on Facebook bemoaning the fact that I was dogless and someone told me that a friend of a friend had aussie shepherd/heeler puppies. So I reached out and scheduled a meeting so we could meet puppies and determine if we were ready to have a dog.

We got there and saw all the ridiculously cute puppy faces. We ended up picking out a
sweet little tri color girl. She was set to come home in 2 weeks.
We decided on the name Athena and prepared to bring her home.
And since that fateful day she came home and puked in my lap, she has been my faithful companion. She has been with me through several relationships and never waiverd in her loyalty. She is by far the best dog I have ever had. She is smart, quick and so snuggly.
She just turned 9 years old and I cannot imagine my life without her at my heels. She is the best barn dog and a great companion to her little sister and the herder of cats in our home.
Thank you for being my companion, Athena.
