New Year, New…

I don’t really know what to put here. Not new goals, we already talked about those before the end of the year. Not new me, same me, same horse.

There honestly isn’t a lot new around WDT. Its still the middle of winter. We are trying to get as many outdoor rides as possible in. This weekend I rode both Saturday and Sunday, but the weekend before I was down with a nasty cold, I didn’t even make it out to the barn. Tuesday I rode last week, Thursday Bacardi got lunged due to a minor human injury (it’s just a flesh wound). I am hoping to ride both Tuesday and Thursday this week.

I really would consistently like to be riding 4 days a week. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. Bacardi and I have been concentrating on our flat work. I still feel like he’s a little fast, and maybe he’s not getting enough work, or he is sore. I need to investigate. I need to start putting a plan together to get us to EI in May. That is what I want. EI in May. Maybe French Creek Derby in August. And Ride for the Roses in October.

I think financially the best plan for us right now is one true three day even per year. Ride for the Roses in Octobers. And as much XC schooling and local derbies in the middle. Winters are for flat work. Summers are for gallop sets. Always hacking out. Any time we can get off property we take it.

This year I finally just feel…prepared. Not like ready to go do a 3 day tomorrow, but I feel like I have all the tools to get me there.

Just some thoughts 🙂

Happy Riding,

A
