Hey all, where have the last 3 months gone?
I turned around and suddenly its JULY? Things have been crazy around here. The human half of WDT moved with the 6 furbabies at home to be closer to the horses. I have been working a lot in June due to one of my coworkers being out indefinitely; and all of our spare time has been spent at the track or with our horses.
So lets pick up where we left off with Ruffi. She has not been home from training for about 3 months. She is doing AMAZING. I have started riding her 1-2 day a week and with much more confidence. She is gettin fitter and more confident and willing with every ride. We are curretnly working on accepting leg pressure and some very light lateral work. Her willingness to accept connection and contact has come leaps and bounds and she is really improving. I did take a tumble off of her a few weeks ago after a trip or a spook and I had to regagin some of my confidence back, but we are now back on track. She also had to have a little bit of time off about 8 weeks ago because she had a TINY abscess due to her growing out of her shoes because of the seasonal change. Her feet are looking fabulous and are improving with every cycle.
The racing season has once again started here at Emeradld Downs and we have also been trying to balance our horses and making it to the track. We are members or the Emerald Racing Club for the 4th year in a rown and to day have had 3 horses in our barn with one being claimed away. We have not had any horses bring home a win photo yet. I will makes a longer post soon, introducing our racehorses for this season and try and keep everyone updated on their successes as well.
Bacardi is still progressign very well, we have been spending a lot of time working out on the track and getting him acclimated to where he feels comfortable being out there so we can really work on conditioning. His canter has been improving drastically in the last few rides where he is actually lifting through his back and becoming soft in the bridle and not leaning on me and its a WONDERFUL feeling. I am so incredibly proud of my boy.
Other than that, things have been excellent. I will endeavor to keep the blog more updated throughout the summer!
Happy Riding!
