The Woes of Flooding

So here in the lovely PNW we have this stuff that falls from the sky called rain; and sometimes we get a lot of it!

About a week ago we got some pretty heavy rain, and due to the location of the farm where we board, our turn out pastures are flooded, so all of our lovely ponies are relegated to their stalls or winter pens.

Unfortunately these pens aren’t conducive to letting the babies run around and get their yaya’s out so Mr. Bacardi has not had the opportunity to run around like a damn banshee with his friends. This has lead to some less than ideal behaviors. Like head butting his dad in the nose and pretending the inside leg does not exist.

Yesterday when I went out for our 2nd annual Christmas ride, someone was quite “up” and had to be lunged before being ridden (which is a VERY rare occurance). Today my biceps hurt from him pulling on the line.

So here is to hoping that our pastures dry up soon, for Bacardi’s sake, and my arms and sanity.

Happy Riding!
