Woosh.. the first 10 days of this year have been HARSH!! Fuck, man. It has been non-stop at work. We have had 20 staff members out of the building due to COVID positives and exposures. This has meant extra hours for me and re-arranging staffing on my team. I think so far this year I have sat my butt in a saddle…. twice?
Yesterday the kids had massages and poor Ruffi was just SO SORE. I knew something was up due to her behavior under saddle the last couple weeks but she wasn’t presenting pain in any of the places I figured she would ie her back and front feet. Boy was I WRONG!! I got so caught up in her KS diagnosis, I completely forgot about her stifle injury and cyst. It has never seemed to bother her, but I am sure with more routine work, it has flared up. Poor baby girl was compensating and was SUPER sore in her SI and hips.
Her massage and cold laser treatment helped IMMMENSELY, but she is still a little stiff. Our next step is having the chiro out and then when the regular vet comes out for dentals, we will discuss getting images on that stifle and seeing what kind of treatment we can do to keep her comfortable if the vet feels its necessary.
On the other hand, Bacardi was super happy with his massage and was tight in all his usual places, mostly his hamstrings and gaskins. But he worked out just fine and I rode today before going into work at noon.
Here is to hoping that things settle down soon at work for me and I can get my kids working on a regular schedule.
